Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship History

When Amelia Earhart lost her life in 1937, Alice Hammond and Helen Montgomery of the Michigan Chapter proposed a living memorial to her, the annual “AE” Scholarship. From 1948 through 1991, 48 North Central 99s have been honored with AE Scholarships and have pursued various ratings: commercial, instrument, multi-engine, ATP, CFI/CFII, helicopter, etc. Two have received Research Scholar Awards.
